social fox pass

Hello my semi-retired blog followers!
Remember when I would do this full time?
Eh, maybe I'll pick it back up again once I'm full-time.
Note: the previous sentence doesn't make too much sense.

So yesterday, I pulled together all of my figures and enjoyed coffee with lab tech.
I went to Group Counseling, it's been super-interesting.
We went to Weg-dizzles to pick up some drugs for teh cute girlfriend.

I'm sure I was more interesting, but I can't bring myself to remember... maybe I'm tired, or maybe this cold coffee doesn't have the punch I need :P

clothes and crafts

woke up and struggled my way to breakfast, enjoying some egg-tacos that I actually tried with the Trader Joe's fall salsa that I won yesterday. It was okay as far as salsa goes (you'll know how big a deal this is for me if you know my one-man campaign against salsa).

we then ended up going to Mueller's Cider House, where they were doing their annual donut tasting competition. we were looking forward to trying everyone's donuts...
this year was different, instead of having the general public vote on donuts, they had a "professional" panel of judges vote. :(
one the plus side, they had free samples inside. they weren't labelled, so to try some, you had to have an awkward "Are those samples?" conversation with folks. It was okay, but I feel that if more people knew about the samples (or if they were correctly labelled) people would have stuck around longer. The outside had some little vendors set up which was cool... but real quick, can Lurallooe (sp?) pyramid schemers stay out of "local" vendors things. There was a band playing outside I wish i'd gotten their name, I liked the song they were playing, it was about missing Selena (I'm sure it wasn't about that "Selena", but I like pretending). There was another band setting up inside, but we didn't stick around. We just bought some fresh made Duke's Donuts and took off to:

Second Storie Craft Fair!
It was at Second Chic in south wedge! It was a fun time! There were some of our favourite crafts people there, so it was interesting to see what they had been working on :)

After touring the Fair, we shopped around for used clothes! I found a Craghopper longsleeve shirt for 8 dollars, which I hear is quite a deal. Teh Cute Girlfriend bought a couple of dresses! Afterwards, we went to the Starbucks on Monroe to hang out and drink coffee. It was a good time for sitting inside as the weather had turned rainy.

After a while, we came back home and finished up Stranger Things. Teh Cute Girlfriend hadn't seen it yet, so we started watching it a few days ago. Now we're ready for Season 2!

Oh, I tried some of the Hot Chocolate that I won (it's from Trader Joe's). NOTE: Don't follow the instructions. I don't know who likes drinking thick melted chocolate, but most folks don't. I think when I try it again tomorrow, that I'll follow my heart for instructions.

Have a good day!

another one dead and gone

Hey weirdos that still read this!

Just posting 'cause I'm bored. (Yes, before you ask, I should be working, but...)

Yesterday was the Memorial Art Gallery's Annual Museum of the Dead! It was super-fun!

Local DJ Hero DJ Alykhan was turning out the jams. Trader Joe's was hanging out handing out free chocolate bars... pity them, not knowing the bottomless hole that is my love for candy. :)

There was a room for making tiny felt bats and cats. It was a source of much happiness for the night. We met a drunk gentleman who tirelessly worked on making a tiny felt pumpkin for his wife, it was cute, and some teachers ashamed at their lack of creativity (though they shouldn't have been) We almost ran out of time to participate in some of the contests.

I'm pretty sure I won the costume contest (They gave me stuff, so probably a safe assumption). I was awesome, if I do say so myself :)

I was Walter Goodman's "The Printselleer's Window"

We (teh cute girlfriend and I) also participated in #memethemag. Were they gave you a prompt and you found a painting/sculpture that captures the essence:
The card's tough to read.

Let's see, oh, Hedonist Chocolate and Ice Cream was there, and we got to try their grape ice cream, and it was heaven in grape ice cream form (more like a sorbet, but I refuse to acknowledge different forms of ice cream)

Then we danced a bit, a pretty good Friday, as far as Fridays go. I finished some more figures, I have to make a diagram, oh and I had a mini-anxiety attack 'cause of money. But hopefully things will work out. As always feel free to donate :P

one view at a time

Yes, it's been a bit since my hundreds of views days, and a bit since I last left my apartment. Yesterday was pretty good.
Maybe I should make this blog a positivity blog, but mostly it's a procrastinatey blog :)

Oh, for breakfast, I've been making overnight oats, it's been great, it's:
3/4 cup oats.
3 diced strawberries,
some honey, sugar
Enough milk to cover
Leave overnight. in closed container

Try it, if you love it, Let me know!

I met with my PI and showed him my progress on the current experiments and the progress on the figures for a possible publication.
In addition, he submitted the other paper we worked on, so hopefully we'll hear back from them soon. That and I still need to hear back from the abstract people.
Cool though, worked some more on some more figures.
Went to the last weekly farmer's market. Lab-tech bought a couple quarts of pickles (they were great, from local pickle makers).
And we split the cost of a pastry! It was an Oreo cheesecake brownie! It was delicious. He's, unfortunately, all about moderation, so I straight up can't just eat all of it at once.
Undergrad RA bought pumpkin cake, so I only tried a little bit of it.
Oh, at it was my first MOSAIC group therapy meeting! It went well, it's mostly about identity, but can cover the full range of mental health subjects. It was nice to be in a room of people of color.
The only bad part is that the meeting lasts until 620, meaning I miss the 610 bus, so I'm gonna have to take the 710 bus :(. It's okay though, 'cause the conversations were good :)
Went home, made rice (I mean RICE).
Played some Card Wars with teh cute girlfriend, and watched some brooklyn 99.

Lastly, this is the only place I have to talk to random strangers on the internet, so I'll just complain about not having yet worked on my Halloween costume. It'll be awesome, but I think it needs time to be good. Also, is my twitter feed still on the side, if so, give a follow, I try to be funny.

latter day miracle

Yo ya'll, see, coming up outta no where to drop the knowledge. Yes, I know, I too miss the ol' format, where I would go on adventures, but I'm livin' that broke life atm. So no adventures for me, heck, I'm not sure I'm renewing my museum memberships, and I love those guys.

Let's see, yesterday. I don't quite remember. I think I worked on my figures again. We finished Rick and Morty, and it rained all day so we didn't go outside :(

That's all I can remember, I know, I basically could have tweeted this post, but whatevs, no one's reading this thing anymore. :)

it's been a while

Howdy friends!

In case you couldn't tell, I have infinitely more important things to do right now. (Hence this post).
I wonder how some bloggers do daily posts, heck even weekly posts.

I guess this is just an update on my hanging out in Rochester (where I still reside).

Have you ever seen other people try to come back to blogging? It's weird.

Anyways, I have found the truth and the light, so I'm going to discontinue this blog to focus on the Lord.

-see, that's an example of the type of entry that most folks make when they come back to their abandoned blog, but not this one!

I kinda just need an outlet to write atm, and Twitter isn't inspiring me (i.e. I want to ramble sometimes)

Let's see, yesterday I looked for a single subject data that could represent my entire data set, unfortunately my data's messy, so I'm trudging through it all to find good stuff.

I went swing dancing, for the first time in a while. I actually was just there to be a body, 'cause they didn't have enough leaders.

Teh Cute Girlfriend and I are working through each episode of Rick and Morty, we're almost caught up to the end of season 3.

Oh, I finished a crocheted hat, but it came out wrong, I lost stitches somewhere, so I tried again, I think I have it figured out. :P We'll see!

palaces of caravan

Another 15:

Fine, I thought I had 15 minutes to kill errday, and I did, but I still haven't learned to use my time wisely :P

Let's see, ah, our PI invited the lab to his house for a sunny day BBQ! Teh Cute Girlfriend and I were late of course. We still run on Valley time (The Rio Grande Valley). We stopped to buy veggie stuff, but it turned out to be unnecessary, as my PI bought us veggie burgers. It was slightly wet just before the BBQ, but cleared up just in time to grill and eat outside. My PI's son and I had a drag-out water-gun fight (it was to defend the table from his tiny tiny terror :) Luckily I didn't get too wet, considering that I had my phone in my pocket and the car keys (new-fangled electronic keys). After a little while, soft rain drops started falling and we moved everything inside. My PI's house is huge and has a basement dedicated to pinball and arcade and dance. So we ended up hanging out until 5pm or so.

Afterwards, Teh Cute Girlfriend, ugra, and I went grocery shopping! We were close to the flagship Wegman's and Trader Joe's and Michael's. I bought batting for amigurumi stuffs, teh cute girlfriend bought a cutting board (Nice, since we've wanted one forever)... and of course boring ol' groceries. Well, TJ's was fun 'cause I hadn't been in such a long time, we ended up buying some of that pre-made pasta, 'cause it's soooooo good :)  The only other different thing was we bought a 12 count of bagels yum!

After we got home, we relaxed for a bit before heading out to see Caravan Palace! The concert was free and supes fun! A few of the ol' jazz folks left after the first song, I assume it wasn't quite what they were expecting :) I danced a lot until some dude told me there wasn't enough space (there was, a little, but still). We rocked until 1030 pm or so enjoying our Java Coffee beverages :) 10/10 would see again, but in France ;)

Wednesday, June 28, 2017

Hello friends,
in today's 15 minute day recap:
Had to wake up early to get to our morning lab meeting, which was pushed a day earlier, for "reasons". Unfortunately, I had to get Teh Cute Girlfriend to give me a ride (she's never happy in the mornings :) My PI liked the plots I made, with UGRA (Undergrad research associate). So  that was pretty nice. Afterwards, me and Tech. Assoc. hung out for a bit and talked about the adaptation experiment. I  then went over to the office to see what UGRA was working on and we talked about the directions she could take with her to be assigned project.

After the workday, me and Tech Assoc. went out to check out Applied Aseudio here in Rochester (technically Henrietta, but I won't hold that against it :) Then hit up Tim Horton's for some Tim Bits! (I heart Tim Bits). When we got to his place, we decided to go play some tennis it was fun to run around with him, we hadn't hung out on the court in a bit. Oh, I definitely ate it on the court, with the very first ball. I chased it and slipped (the floor of the court was gross, kinda oily feeling) and fell on my belly and slid like a good two feet. It was pretty great (well, my knee wasn't happy, but who cares about that guy). Then I was dropped off at home.

Teh Cute Girlfriend and I then went to go pick up ugra (i'll come up with a better nickname later). Her and I planned on a viewing/listening party (she's surprisingly uninformed about cool stuff). We first went to Wal-mart, so that she could buy a racket and teh cute girlfriend could look at sewing stuffs. We ended up buying potato salad. Afterwards, we went to Joann's Fabric shop, so that teh cute girlfriend could look for filler material.

When we got home, we ate some potato salad sandwiches and I settled on watching a Miyazaki movie. We watched Princess Mononoke (cause it's probably the most mainstream one). After that, we caught like 3 episodes of Bojack Horseman. After that, it was time to take her home.

Then bed. Woot! Just under the timing wire!

in a bind

Alright folks, here's my day in 15 minutes or less!

Woke up nice and early, so I got to make breakfast and drink coffee. It's not always that I have coffee. Those are the sad days. Let's see, at work, I smushed two plots together to make them make sense. I'm not terribly sure that I can do that, but I'll ask tomorrow. The plots turned out pretty well :) Of course, after I set up the plots, I brought over our Lab's undergrad and had her plot the rest of the plots. I then showed her how to do a t-test with Kaleidagraph, the most garbage program ever.

Oh on the bus ride to school, I plopped a poke-man into a gym, which was cool, 'cause I hadn't tried the new gyms since they changed them. I think I like them a lot better, plus, there's forced diversity, which is super-cool.:) I have yet to participate in a raid, but I'm sure it'll happen.

At work, I found the transparencies that I prepared for screen-printing (I couldn't find them on Saturday when I went in) So I thought that I might screen-print today, but I'm scared and it's too cloudy (I'm thinking of using the sun for the photo-emulsion) It's supposed to be cloudy for a while.

Let's see, Ethereum dropped by a lot today, so Tech. Assoc. was slightly upset and trying to talk himself up.

For the evening, I had a Book safe making class (@Roc Brainery) with Just Terrific! Just Terrific is a local crafter who makes book-related items. I own one of her tiny book pins and now I own a kick-butt book safe. Although, I couldn't finish at the class (I don't know how so many people managed to complete theirs in time) I ended up taking my book home and  a small paper cup of Mod Podge to finish making the safe (It fits my book!)

I'm also jealous that Teh Cute Girlfriend went to go see My Neighbor Totoro on the big screen! It's been sooo long since I've seen any Miyazaki film. I need to correct that.

and just like that my time is up. Seems like I can use up 15 minutes!

frfnr is dead

Okay, it actually isn't dead. I'm just stealing some YouTuber's style. (Nathan Zed tbh). I know, some 35 yo learning from a young adult. I say, learn from everyone you can :)

So, I'm altering the format a little bit. It'll still be a daily blog. (Yes, I know I haven't posted in a while, and now all my posts are deleted, but I'm always a fan of wiping the slate clean) I'm thinking about setting aside 15-minutes everyday to write this thing. That way, I won't be overburdened by having to write soooo much (not that I ever did). I'll write until my 15-minutes are up, or if I finish before then, I'll do that instead, so a guaranteed 15-minutes or less of content, exciting!

So on to day 1 (15-minutes start here):

Let's see, woke up a little late. around 10 am, but that isn't too bad, considering that I went to bed at around 5-6 am. I almost woke up at 7 am, but that didn't hold. After breaking myself away from Teh Cute Girlfriend, I went to make Sunday morning waffles! I totally forgot that we didn't have any syrup though :( After breakfast, we got dressed and went off to Greece Canal Park. We had never been there, and teh cute girlfriend wanted to go somewhere new. It was a cute little park. We parked near the little events building, and it looked to me like there weren't any trails, but I was wrong, like most times. So we went walking through the little path we found. Oh, I saw a snek. It was tiny and brown and cute. Speaking of cute, there were so many cute doggos!!!!! I want access to a cute doge, but I don't want to own one, so that I don't need to take care of it.
Let's see, we found a tiny pond, and a dying dragonfly, it was so pretty. We made our way to the eponymous Erie Canal and hung out by the side of it for a bit before returning back.

Back at home, I somehow managed to not take a nap (coffee helped). I spent a lot of time trying to get my mini-laptop to be like it used to be before I wiped it. (Malware, accidentally downloaded "an extension"). Oh, and we made Wonder Woman themed cookies! They were sugar-cookies, so I loved them of course. I ran ethereum mining on my main comp while I played with my mini-laptop.

Alright, I've got one-minute left, hopefully this won't take 15 minutes to read :) I find myself with 15 minutes of time available all the time, so I should be able to stick to the
